Preamble
In recognition of the need for greater accountability and direct democratic participation, this amendment establishes a process whereby voters, after adequate and timely notice, may vote online to impeach any government official for misconduct or failure in duty.
Text of the Amendment
1. Online Voting Implementation
- The federal government shall establish a secure, accessible, and tamper-proof online voting platform for registered voters across the United States.
- The platform will ensure transparency, confidentiality, and accessibility for all eligible voters.
2. Impeachment Process
- A government official may be subjected to a national vote for impeachment upon the submission of a verified petition signed by [threshold percentage] of eligible voters in the United States.
- The official shall have the right to be notified and to present their defense during a public review period preceding the vote.
3. Timely Notice Requirement
- All voters shall receive electronic and/or physical notice of the impending vote no fewer than [specific number] days prior to the voting commencement.
